Art

The St. Catherine of Siena Art Department is dedicated to the cultural enrichment of our students by developing their technical skills and exploring their personal voices through art production, art history, art criticism, and aesthetic appreciation. Lessons focus on not only Western artwork and techniques, but also those from the Middle East, Asia, Africa, and the pre-colonial Americas. Students will gain a better understanding of their role in the world's culture at large. The techniques and media learned are designed to increase the artistic vocabulary of the students while nurturing creativity by opening previously unknown avenues of expression. Our goal is to supplement the students' academic subjects to create well-rounded, cultured, and open-minded young men and women.
