All students of St. Catherine of
Siena
participate in daily prayer. Grades 1 through 7 attend
Mass every week. The children are actively involved in the
Mass planning and contribute by acting as lectors during
the
Mass.
The student body has the opportunity to be a part of the
Living Rosary, Reconciliation, Stations of the Cross,
Celebration in the Oaks, Live Nativity, Grandparents'
Mass, retreats, May Crowning, and Mass on Holy Days of
Obligation. Each year a Christian theme is chosen which
the entire school embraces. The faculty and staff
encourage all St. Catherine students to use Jesus as their
role model by loving and respecting each other.
The SCS Middle School Religion
Teachers are a Catholic faith community who eagerly
embrace and welcome every middle school child as a part of
this community, a community where each person, be it
student or teacher, is treated with great love and great
respect. As Catholic educators, we encourage students to
explore, formulate, and articulate their core Catholic
beliefs. Our ultimate goal is to encourage each and every
student to pursue a more intimately relationship with our
God, resulting in the greatest spiritual journey of their
lives.
In the pursuit of intimacy with our God, we engage each
student’s heart, mind, soul and strength as follows:
Students
read and study the
“Christ Our Life” textbook , watch videos, consider
the lessons learned from parables, and participate in
discussions, including “Who do people say that I am?”
and “Ask The Experts.”
Students
reflect on Christian and secular music, participate in
songs, join in meditations, express their faith in art
forms, and log their insights in journals.
Students
discover the depth of their relationship with God through
personal and communal prayer, participation in the
sacraments, and through prayer journeys.
Students
are given opportunities to put into practice their faith
by reaching out to others in their school, church, and
local communities.
