We believe that students learn by doing, not just by hearing. Science is
verb, not a noun.
Actions takes place in the science classroom. Students respond more in an active learning environment
when students are able to interact with
each other; every science classroom is physically designed for cooperative learning group instruction. Our students learn how to use a variety of science and technology equipment and how to solve problems by working together. This type of learning experience accurately mimics real life working environments
which involve teamwork and communication.
The science department creates learning places where cooperative learning is promoted, critical thinking and problem solving lessons are served up, and technology is integrated into daily activities.
In a rapidly changing world of science and technology, we
strive to instill a love of learning and enthusiasm for
science in our students.
All schools within the Archdiocese of New Orleans have undergone a Standards Based Education Initiative. In this process, many areas of the curriculum have been aligned with the Louisiana Content Standards and Benchmarks, the Archdiocesan Integrated Science Grade Level Expectations, and the Stanford Achievement Test 10.
