Registration
for returning students takes place in January.
How many students in the school? What are the class sizes?
There are
approximately 860 boys and girls from age 3 to 7th grade
currently attending St. Catherine of Siena School. Class
size is approximately 24 - 27 students.

How well do St. Catherine's graduates do in their high schools?
They do extremely well. Over the years many of our graduates finish as valedictorians and salutatorians of their high schools and go on to achieve college and career success.
Do graduates of St. Catherine's send their children here for school?
Yes, many of our students are children of former graduates. There is a strong loyalty to the school.
Do I have to be Catholic to send my children to SCS?
No, if there are
openings, we accept students of all religions.

Is there a Before School Care Program? an After School Care Program?
Yes, we offer both.
Morning care begins at 7:00 a.m. and after school care
is available from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m.
Where do I drop off my
children in the morning and where do I pick them up after
school?
In the morning,
please drop your children off on Bonnabel near one
of the walk gates (one is located near the Church, the
other near the Barrett Complex) or in the driveway of the Barrett Complex if you have a
preschool student. Pick up is in the parking lot; the
lot will be open at 3:15 for cars to line up, with
carpool beginning at 3:30.
Faculty will be outside to assist you in the process.
How do I know if school is closed during bad weather?
The Archdiocese of New
Orleans will make an official announcement through the media.

Do we go to mass as a school?
Yes, students attend
and are involved in a weekly Mass.
What is the official St. Catherine of Siena uniform? Where is the uniform purchased?

How much homework can we expect for each grade level?
There is no set
limit for homework. Middle school should expect
approximately 2 hours of homework, studying, and reading
per night.
How can I get my child's homework if he's sick?
Please call the
school before 9:30 a.m. Your child's work will be
available in the cubbies in the Junior building after
3:30 p.m.
What time does school begin and end?
Pre K - 8:40a.m. -
2:30p.m. (drop-off runs from 8:00-8:40; pick up runs
from 2:45-3:05)
Kindergarten - 8:40a.m. - 2:50p.m. (drop-off runs
from 8:00-8:40; pick up runs from 3:05-3:20)
1st-7th grade - 8:20a.m. - 3:30p.m. (drop-off runs
from 7:45-8:25; pick up runs from 3:30-3:45)
