Our primary curriculum relates learning to real life experiences. The curriculum centers around the obligation of forming Catholic youth capable of assuming their responsibilities in the religious, academic, social, and civic communities. Language Arts, Math, and Science are integrated and adapted to the developmental needs and interests of young children.
CORE CURRICULUM
Language Arts
A blended approach to reading using the components of both phonics and whole
language is used. Emphasis on reading comprehension, critical thinking, reasoning skills, and creative writing are integrated and built upon throughout the primary grades.
Mathematics
Number concepts, computations, problem-solving, logical thinking, basic
operations are all taught with a focus on practical application to daily life. Manipulatives are used as reinforcement.
Science
Earth and Natural Science are taught through the use of hypothesis, investigation, observation, analysis and conclusion. A sample of units of study include Weather, Plants, Geology, Animals, etc...
Religion
Old and New Testament, Catholic Doctrine, weekly student prepared
Mass, preparation for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy
Eucharist are covered. Emphasis on Christian values.
Enrichment
Art, Computer, Drama, Library, Music, Physical Education
are offered at least once per week.
