 The health and wellness issues of all students of St. Catherine of Siena are handled through the
school nurse's office. The school nurse is certified in
both basic Life Support/CPR and Pediatric First Aid. The
school nurse provides first aid treatment, administration of medication, and assessment of the student's health during school hours. The
school nurse works closely with the faculty, counselors and families to ensure the well being of all students of St. Catherine of Siena.
The school nurse will administer medication that needs to be given on a daily or frequent basis. The student's parent must complete the necessary forms in order for medication to be administered by the nurse. The parent must also provide medication properly labeled by the pharmacy in its original container. A physician's order must also accompany the medication. All forms can be obtained from the
school nurse.
The school nurse is also assisted by the Health and Wellness Committee during the year. Health education is of
utmost importance and various speakers are scheduled throughout the year to meet with both
parents, students, and faculty. Each year the students participate in vision, hearing and scoliosis screenings. Fun, health related activities are also provided for the student body such as Kids-Get-Fit Week, Mother/Daughter Tea, and Father/Son Discussion.
