Dear St. Catherine of Siena Parents,
Our names are Rhea Caluda and Megan Labat, and we are THRILLED to be your child’s lower and middle school counselors! As the school counselors, we are here to work with you and your child so that he/she may not only achieve academic success, but also positive, social, and emotional growth in and out of the classroom! Our goals are to help form a supportive and positive environment that is conducive to both learning and success.
We work with students individually, in small group counseling, and/or in their classrooms. There are multiple reasons why a student may visit their school counselor. Some of the most common reasons include personal concerns, concerns with friends, academic help/support, concerns with teachers, family concerns, or just to check-in and say, “Hello.”
For individual counseling, students are referred by teachers, parents, or by self-referrals. In the counseling office, students can feel free to talk about any of their worries or concerns. If you would like for us to meet with your child, you may email or call us. For classroom guidance, we will be going into the classrooms once a month to provide social and emotional learning. Topics include: friendship, self-esteem, bullying, positive school behaviors, goal setting, and more!
Our goal is to keep students in class as much as possible. Our time to see students will be during recess, lunch, or any time core academic instruction is not taking place. If an emergency arises, we will make an exception.
If your student has had a current educational/psychological evaluation (in the past 3 years) and you would like to discuss the next best steps in ways we can support your child, please contact us.
We are truly delighted to have the opportunity to serve you and all the St. Catherine students. Please feel free to contact us at any time if you have any questions or concerns.
